Work on your communication skills

Having good communication skills is so important in all aspects of life. If you are finding yourself arguing a lot, try to work on your communication skills, in order to deal with conflict, and be less aggressive. Sometimes a disagreement can occur when you are trying to get your point across but keep saying the wrong things, and you aren’t meaning to. This is when good communication could stop a fight from happening. When you become a parent, this is when good communication is key!

Give each other space

Ensure you are giving each other space, as when you are feeling suffocated, this is when a relationship can start to deteriorate. It is ok to spend time apart, and see your friends or family members, without each other, as spending time with others, can really help a relationship stay strong. Prioritise spending time together doing fun things, but at the same time, doing fun things with others, to keep other areas of your life on a positive side.

Make an effort for each other

Sometimes you can become too comfortable with your loved one, and start to take everything you do for each other for granted. Try to set days each month when you make an effort for your loved one and treat them to something nice. It can be a grand gesture of a meal out and a fun activity, to something small like making their favourite gin mixer, or buying them some flowers, to show you love them. No matter how long you have been together, it is never too late to make them feel special and loved.
